GWO Fire Awareness – Refresher

The GWO Fire Awareness Refresher is intended for anyone working in the wind industry. This course needs to be refreshed every two years. During the training, your skills and knowledge will be refreshed on how to act in the event of a fire in a wind turbine and how you can best safeguard yourself and your colleagues.

The content of this module has been drawn up according to the guidelines of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO).

About this course

Content

The following topics are, amongst others, covered in accordance with the GWO guidelines:

  • The origin and spread of fire
  • Escape from a nacelle when a fire has started
  • Practicing with different fire extinguishing equipment
  • Escape route procedures, emergency plans and smoke detection
  • Extinguishing small fires

 

Entry requirements

For this training you must be in possession of a valid GWO Fire Awareness certificate.

Certificate

After successful completion of this training you will receive an official GWO Fire Awareness Refresher certificate. The obtained certificate is also registered in WINDA, the online database for GWO training courses. In this database you will find all your obtained GWO certificates.

This certificate and the WINDA registration are valid for 2 years and must be refreshed every two years. You can do this by (re)following the GWO refresher training(s).
