GWO First Aid

The GWO First Aid is intended for anyone working in the wind industry. With this training you will acquire knowledge and skills about providing first aid in the event of accidents (first aid) in and near wind turbines. Limited available space and the entry and exit options of a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) are taken into account.

The content of this module has been drawn up according to the guidelines of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO).

About the course

Content

The following topics, amongst others, are discussed in accordance with the GWO guidelines:

  • Use of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • First aid equipment
  • First aid for life-threatening situations
  • Basic knowledge of normal body functions
  • Symptoms of serious and minor injuries and illnesses (anatomy)

Additional options

The First Aid is one of the five modules of the Basic Safety Training developed by the Global Wind Organization (GWO).

The full package teaches participants everything to be able to work safely in the wind industry and consists of the separate modules in addition to the GWO First Aid:

The modules can also be followed in combination in the GWO Basic Safety Training.

Certificate

After successful completion of this training you will receive an official GWO First Aid certificate. You will also be registered in WINDA. WINDA is the online database for GWO training courses.

This certificate as well as the WINDA registration has a validity of 2 years and must be refreshed every two years. You can do this by following the GWO refresher training.

As soon as you start following a GWO training, you need to create a Winda account. Don’t have these yet? Don’t worry, you can do that via this link. In this database you will find all obtained GWO certificates.
