GWO Fire Awareness E-Learning & Practical

The GWO Fire Awareness E-Learning + Practical course is specifically tailored for those working within the wind industry. This training imparts comprehensive knowledge on managing fires in a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG). Emphasizing the importance of quick action when a fire occurs, the course places personal safety at its core.

Participants will acquire skills in utilizing small fire extinguishers and escaping from smoke-engulfed spaces. Additionally, the GWO E-Learning module enables learners to undertake the theoretical portion online, allowing for a flexible learning schedule that can be adapted to fit personal commitments. This online component can be accessed globally, on any device including PCs, laptops, tablets, or smartphones. Following this, the practical segment is conducted in person at the training center, providing hands-on experience.

Upon successful completion of the course, attendees are awarded the same certification as that of the traditional classroom-based GWO Fire Awareness training, which continues to be available weekly.

The content of this module has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the  Global Wind Organization (GWO) .

  • Escape from a nacelle when a fire has started
  • Practice with different fire extinguishing equipment
  • Escape route procedures, emergency plans and smoke detection
  • Extinguishing small fires

The Fire Awareness is one of the five modules of the basic safety training developed by the Global Wind Organization (GWO).

The complete package teaches participants everything to work safely in the wind industry and, in addition to the GWO Fire Awareness, consists of the individual modules:

Certificate

After successfully completing this training you will receive an official GWO Fire Awareness certificate. You will also be registered in WINDA. WINDA is the online database for GWO training.

This certificate and the WINDA registration are valid for 2 years and must be repeated every two years. You can repeat this by following the GWO refresher training courses.
