STCW Hybrid training courses

In addition to our standard training courses, ECMT also offers hybrid STCW training courses. With a hybrid course, you complete the theory part online in advance, at your own pace and from anywhere in the world, using a PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. You then attend only the practical part at our Rotterdam centre.

As you will have already completed the theory part, you’ll spend at least one day less at the training venue. With the combined course, this is even two days. This means that, after weeks at sea, you’ll have more time for family and friends. And you won’t have to compromise on quality, as you’ll receive exactly the same official STCW certificate as with our regular courses.

What is STCW training?

Shipping has traditionally been an international industry, in which uniform and global regulations are of essential importance. The aim of these regulations is to safeguard the health and safety of crew members working on board. To ensure that seafarers on merchant ships worldwide meet the minimum requirements, it is compulsory to undertake an accredited STCW training course and obtain an official STCW certificate. STCW training courses must comply with a regulatory framework that has been universally approved. The IMO, or International Maritime Organization, is responsible for this framework.

STCW stands for Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping.
