Sea Survival E-Learning & Practical

The GWO Sea Survival course is designed for everyone involved in the offshore wind industry, especially those working on the construction, maintenance, and/or service of wind turbines and offshore wind farms. This training equips you with both theoretical and practical knowledge concerning survival techniques at sea, including evacuation procedures and handling emergencies on offshore wind installations or ships.

Opting for the GWO E-Learning Sea Survival enables you to undertake the theoretical part online, at your leisure, from any location globally on your chosen device—be it a PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Following this, the practical training is conducted at our training center, efficiently condensed into just 0.5 days, thus allowing you to conserve valuable time.

Upon successful completion of the GWO Sea Survival E-learning + practice, participants are awarded the same certification as those attending the traditional, classroom-based GWO Sea Survival training, which continues to be available on a weekly basis.

The content of this module has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Wind Organization (GWO) .

About this training

Contents

The following is discussed in accordance with the GWO guidelines:

  • Survival techniques at sea
  • Getting on and off board safely
  • Man-overboard procedures (SAR, GMDSS and First Aid)
  • Evacuation procedures
  • Advantages / limitations of various LSA, PPE and PFPE materials

Admission requirements

There are no mandatory prior education requirements for this training.

Please note, in accordance with GWO standard Version 16.1, released on December 6, 2022, a participant must be in possession of a valid GWO Working at Height certificate from April 1, 2023 before being able to participate in the GWO Sea Survival.

Certificate

After successfully completing this training you will receive an official GWO Sea Survival certificate. You will also be registered in WINDA. WINDA is the online database for GWO training.

This certificate and the WINDA registration are valid for 2 years and must be repeated every two years. You can repeat this by following the GWO refresher training courses.
