Inland Medical Examination

If you work in inland shipping, you are required by law to undergo an inland medical examination periodically.

At ECMT, you can schedule an inland medical examination quickly and without waiting time. Our certified surveyors carry out this inspection according to the guidelines of the Inspectorate for the Environment and Transport (ILT).

An inland shipping medical certificate is required when applying for:

Large sailing licence or Rhine licence (mate, skipper)
Small sailing licence (small commercial shipping, pleasure sailing)
Service record book (seaman)

Parts of the medical examination

The examination takes about 30 minutes and includes the following items:

Questionnaire
Biometric examination: measurement of height, weight, heart rate and blood pressure
Sight test including colour blindness test
Hearing test (audiometry)
Physical examination
Urine test

The cost for this examination is €150 excluding VAT.
