STCW Medical First Aid – Are You Prepared for a Medical Emergency at Sea?

The STCW Medical First Aid training is intended for crew members who are responsible for providing first aid on board. During the two-day training you will learn to act quickly and efficiently in case of accidents and illness on board.

It is vital that people on board ships are able to provide medical first aid in the event of a medical emergency.

The international STCW Convention sets legal requirements for this. Every officer is required to be in possession of a valid certificate. STCW regulation section A-VI / 4, Table A-VI / 4-1, chapter VI.

Infectious Diseases
Evacuation by helicopter
Wound care and suturing
CPR + AED
Medical equipment on board

Entry requirements

To participate in this training you must have a valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate (<5 years old) or a certificate of a previously followed training(s) Shipping Health Care (B/O) or comparable certificate.

Certificate

After successful completion of this training you will receive an official (ILenT / Shipping approved) STCW Medical First Aid certificate. This certificate is valid for 5 years and complies with the STCW’78 guidelines including 2010 Manila amendments.
